Freightliner, a leading manufacturer of American-made trucks, was founded in 1942 as Freightliner Inc. Known mainly for construction of heavy duty Class 8 (gross vehicle weight rating- or GVWR- of anything over 33,000 lbs.) diesel trucks, they also manufacture Class 5-7 (GVWR under 33,000 lbs.) trucks, and are a leader in the industry in Class A diesel recreational vehicle chassis and walk-in van markets.
Based in Portland, Oregon, it is a privately held company, its owners Daimler AG, and its parent company Daimler Trucks North America. In May 1981, Consolidated Freightways, Freightliner's parent company since the company's inception, sold its truck manufacturing business and the Freightliner brand to Daimler-Benz, though the Freightliner name is still used on trucks made today.

Freightliner OTR Trucks - a wide variety of new and pre-owned Freightliner OTR Sleeper Trucks.
Freightliner Day Cabs - these trucks are lightweight, and optimized for strength. They are designed for maximum comfort, with an emphasis on interior ergonomics and efficiency.
Freightliner Box Trucks - also known as box vans. This truck's cargo area is shaped as a large square; their rear door usually rolls up. Some trucks may have accessibility to the cargo area from the cab through a small door.
Freightliner Refrigerated - these are vans or trucks, by way of mechanical refrigeration systems, designed to carry perishable freight at lower temperatures. Their power plants could be small displacement diesel engines, or may provide cooling through carbon dioxide means, either in liquid form or dry ice as the cooling agent.

Freightliner Flatbeds - these trucks are as advertised, an entirely flat bed, level, with no sides or roof. Either articulated or rigid, the flatbeds are optimal for easy, quick loading of goods. They are also used to transport heavy loads, some of which may necessitate a crane for drop-down loading. It is also used for abnormal loads, loads that require more space than is available on a closed body, either horizontally or vertically.
