That's why having a mechanic truck that brings the equipment and tools to get the job done right to the truck is such an asset to a trucking company. Mechanics have been working on trucks since the very first trucks were invented, and in 1937 a truck with cabinets in the body and a ladder rack on top was introduced. This early model has evolved over the years to become the mechanic truck that is commonly seen on the road today.
The demand for specialized mechanics trucks soared after World War II and now there are more than 200 configurations of mechanic trucks on the market. They are designed to service and repair cars, light trucks, heavy-duty trucks and other types of vehicles. Some of these trucks are designed as small as possible, while others have dual-rear wheels and are equipped with tools to haul and lift. Mechanics trucks are commonly available equipped with everything from cabinets designed to hold hand tools to cranes that can lift 6000 pounds or more.
