Trucking touches all types of industry, from automobile transports, food, material goods, liquids, refrigeration and, among others, even pets. That’s right, a service called P.E.T.S. LLC will actually transport unwanted animals from primarily southern shelters up to northern shelters for adoption. These animals, many who have been scheduled for euthanization, are safely transported up north where shelters there are able to adopt them out.
P.E.T.S. LLC (Peterson Express Transport Service) is owned and operated by Kyle and Pam Peterson in Cookeville TN, and has been in operation for over 15 years. They use converted 18 wheelers that have heating and cooling capability, so that the animals transported will always stay in a comfortable and healthy environment.
Providing several pick up points around the Southeast (TX, LA, MS, AL, GA, AR, TN, VA) as well as several drop off locations in the New England area (VA, MD, PA, NJ, NY, CT, VT NH), crates are loaded so that each one is easily accessible at all times. Each pet is checked on along the way, and they are given bathroom breaks every few hours. Food and water is always available, so they will never go hungry or thirsty during transport.
Truckers have a Heart
Everything you know about truckers, from being faithful to their jobs, hard working, kind and being considerate, you can also add another description to the list: having a heart. If you know of any unwanted pet, please contact P.E.T.S. LLC at the link provided, find out where to drop off an animal, particularly if you live in a southern state, and allow the shelter to make arrangements for transportation and adoption up north. Thank you.
