International Sweeps ATD Truck of the Year Awards

The votes have been counted and International made a clean sweep of the American Truck Dealers (ATD) 2014 Commercial Truck of the Year Awards at January's ATD Convention & Expo in New Orleans. Taking top honors in both heavy duty and medium duty classes, Navistar/International beat out Kenworth, Peterbilt and Hino.

2014 Heavy-Duty Truck of the Year

Benefitting from an innovative aerodynamic redesign of its front end and cab, International's ProStar with Cummins ISX15 engine with selective catalytic reduction was named Heavy Duty Truck of the Year. Improvements to Cummins ISX15 engine (550 HP, 1850 lb.-ft. torque) also resulted in noteworthy efficiency increases.

ProStar delivers admirable fuel economy, excellent power and an exceptionally smooth and quiet ride. Of note is the truck's variable geometry turbocharger which allows infinite adjustment and precise power boost at any rpm, enhancing engine response and driver control.

A perennial driver favorite, the ProStar's cab, exterior, drivetrain and interior can be configured to the customer's specifications. 2014 Medium-Duty Truck of the Year

International's TerraStar 4x4 captured the Medium-Duty Truck of the Year title for its versatility in meeting the needs of a wide range of customers, including utility, construction, landscape and other off-highway applications.

Powered by a 6.4-liter MaxxForce7 V8 turbodiesel engine with 300 HP and 660 lb.-ft. torque, the TerraStar 4x4 offers plenty of power and an impressive 500,000 B50 life. Its compacted graphite iron engine block adds strength without weight, making the TerraStar lighter and more fuel-efficient than standard gray iron engines.

Superior durability provided by commercial duty components such as Fabco's severe service transfer case adds to the truck's appeal and longevity. But this truck isn't just about power and efficiency, it's also about comfort. With 7 inches more interior width, 9 inches more headroom and 2 inches more belly room than its competitors, the 4X4 boasts a 20% larger overall cab volume.
