1st Annual Truck Driver Social Media Conference

March 30, 2011

Trucker to Trucker is the Web's premier online trucking site for trucks for saleand for for trucking industry information.

In this post we are covering the 1stAnnual Truck Driver Social Media Conference being held in October this year:

When you think of a truck driver it is sometimes hard to see how they are closely related to Facebook, Twitter or any other social media sites which populate the web. However, you would be very wrong to dismiss the power that Social Mediahas over every facet of our lives. A good example of how truckers have taken Social Media into their lives is demonstrated by the number of former Arrow truckers and employees who found work using Social Media sites when that company announced bankruptcy and the thousands of industry people needed to find jobs.

Social Media is coming of age for the trucking industry, not least because the technology is now mobile in a way it wasn't before. From cab laptops to the ubiquitous Smart Phones which are as powerful as a computer form 5 years ago sitting in a corporate office, and in some instances are able to handle Web applications even they could not utilize – the modern truck driver is armed with Internet tools aplenty.

But how can they be properly used to help driver performance and increase profitability and save on costs?

The 1stAnnual Truck Drivers Social Media Conference will address this question and many others at the Gold Strike Resort and Casino located in Tucina, Mississippi on October 15th, 2011. Seat costs are a mere $89 and attendance will be capped at 550.

Guest speakers include:

  • James McCormack (dealing with trucking employment issues);

  • Richard Wilson (handling industry regulatory topics);

  • Paul Taylor (legal eagle);and

  • Eddie Gichuhi (developer and owner of Trip Sheet Central).

Social media guru Austin Walsh will also attend for the day – Austin is one the country's leading Social Media strategists.

Attendees will be able to soak in the very best of the Social Media experience and how it is affecting the development of the truck driving experience, but at the same time it is not just all work and no play.

There are over $6,000 in giveaway prizesbeing offered by several corporate sponsors – including a Florida condo vacation, all expenses paid.

Entertainment is being laid on which includes the Keystruckers, Jim and Jan McCarter (look out for Bobby Boofay making an appearance), along with several musical acts to get the party swinging. Food will be provided by the Gold Strike Resort chefs including a breakfast and dinner buffet, all included in the ticket price.
