Day Cab trucks have been used to haul goods around the United States since the very late 1800s, with the first trucks being used to haul cars. These trucks were pretty simple and built purely for hauling, with little thought about driver comfort. Thankfully there have been many innovations over the years that have made driving a day cab much more comfortable.
Some drivers believe that day cab trucks are less comfortable to drive than their counterparts with sleepers, but newer day cabs have spacious driver cabins that are specifically designed for driver comfort. Many truck manufacturers have relocated the controls so that the driver doesn't have to stretch or hunch down to reach them, thus reducing the chance of driver injury.
Another benefit of newer day cab trucks is that the heater and air conditioner motors are usually placed on the firewall so that they make less noise. Many trucks also feature energy absorbing steering columns to reduce vibration, as well as superior insulation throughout the cab. A quiet truck means that the driver can focus more on the road, rather than be distracted by constant noise that wears on the nerves.
The seat is one of the most important parts of the truck, especially when it comes to driver comfort. These well-designed seats are specifically sculpted to support the driver's lumbar while they are driving. Back injuries are common among truck drivers, so it's important to choose a truck that offers sufficient back support for the driver.
